Choosing a gazebo for a market stall

The short answer

For most market stalls choose a 3m x 3m gazebo with a sturdy frame, a waterproof flame-retardant canopy and weights for every leg. Check the pitch size first, and pick a frame built for repeated set-up if the gazebo will go up every week.

Size

A 3m x 3m gazebo is the usual choice, because many market pitches are around that size. Larger sizes suit bigger pitches. Measure the pitch, allow for guy lines and weights, and leave space for neighbouring stalls. Confirm the pitch dimensions with the organiser.

Frame

A gazebo that goes up every week needs a frame built for it. Look for thicker legs, strong joints and a design made for commercial use. Steel frames are strong and heavy. Aluminium frames are lighter and resist rust. Choose the one that suits how you transport and set up.

Canopy

  • A waterproof coating and taped seams keep stock and customers dry.
  • Flame-retardant fabric, because many organisers ask for it and some ask for the certificate.
  • Side walls for wind, rain and low sun.
  • A colour or print that makes the stall easy to spot.

Weights and anchoring

Weight every leg. Pegs often cannot be used on hard ground, and many organisers do not allow them. Follow the organiser if you are asked to take the gazebo down in strong wind.

Set-up and storage

Check the packed weight, the size of the carry bag and how many people it takes to put up. A gazebo that one person can erect saves time on busy mornings.

Branding

A printed canopy or banner helps customers find you in a crowd. Gala Tent prints canopies and banners for traders.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What size gazebo do I need for a market stall?

A 3m x 3m gazebo fits many pitches. Always confirm the pitch dimensions with the organiser.

Should I buy a steel or aluminium gazebo?

Steel is strong and heavy. Aluminium is lighter and resists rust. Choose the frame that suits how you transport and put up the gazebo.

Do I need side walls?

Side walls shelter you and your stock from wind, rain and low sun, and they give a stall a more finished look.

How heavy should the weights be?

Heavy enough to hold the gazebo in the conditions you expect. The organiser may set a minimum, so check the trader terms.
